Privacy Policy — Readgio
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Readgio is a reader and reading tracker for EPUB and PDF books. This policy explains what data the app uses and where it goes.
The short version
- No account, no sign-in, no name or email needed.
- No ads, and your data is never sold or shared for advertising.
- The app does not track you across other apps or websites.
- Your content stays on your device and in your own iCloud.
Data that stays with you
Your books, highlights, notes, collections, reading progress and reading statistics are stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on, they are synced between your devices through your own private iCloud account. We cannot access your iCloud data.
- Camera — used only to scan an ISBN barcode when you add a book. The image is read on your device and never saved or sent anywhere.
- Photos — when you pick an image (for example, for a book cover), the app receives only the photo you choose.
- Motion — the tilt of your device is used on-device for a visual effect and is not recorded.
Data that leaves your device
- Book lookups — when you scan a barcode or look up a book, the ISBN or title is sent to Google Books and Open Library to fetch the book's details and cover. Nothing else about you is sent.
- Free books — browsing the public-domain catalogue downloads book lists and files from that catalogue.
- Usage statistics, crash reports and purchases — handled by the services below.
Services we use
- Google Firebase Analytics — counts how features are used (for example, which screens are opened and which settings are changed), together with the device model, iOS version, app version and an approximate country derived from the IP address. It is linked to a random identifier created by the app, not to you. Google's privacy policy
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — if the app crashes, sends a technical crash report (what code was running, device model, iOS version, app version) so the bug can be fixed. Firebase privacy information
- Google Firebase Remote Config — lets us adjust some app settings without an update. It receives an app installation identifier and basic device information.
- RevenueCat — checks which purchases are active on your Apple account, using a random identifier and the purchase receipts Apple provides. RevenueCat never sees your payment details. RevenueCat's privacy policy
- Apple — processes all payments through the App Store. We never see or store your card or payment details.
These services receive only the technical data described above. We use it to fix bugs, keep the app fast and understand which features are useful.
What we don't collect
Your name, email address, contacts, location, or payment details. We never collect the content of your books, highlights or notes, and analytics never include book titles.
Children
Readgio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK, Australia or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to how it is used. Most of your data never leaves your device or your own iCloud, so you can delete it at any time by deleting it in the app or deleting the app. For anything held by the services listed above, email us at sadnova.au@gmail.com and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
